Hi All - this is Lindsay. I've created this forum so that we can keep the conversation flowing about SMASHfestUK plans and production.
Thanks so much to everyone who was able to come along to the first COLLABORATION DAY between artists and scientists. It was absolutely brilliant to see the amazing thoughts and ideas coming out of the conversations we had. Its enabled us to join up some dots on what we were thinking about how the events would unroll, and pretty soon we will have documents out to you summarising everything that was on the table and how that will now relate to event production.
Please use this thread to introduce yourself and tell everyone a little bit about what you do and your specialisms and skills. Hopefully when people have questions or problems they are trying to find solutions to, if we all know what each other are good at - it will make the hurdles easier to leap!
If you're new to online fora, have a little play around. You can create new threads, reply to existing ones and also add polls or attachments if you are trying to make a decision or have information you want to share.
At the moment I will probably keep this forum to just a single one, but if it gets complicated, we can create sub-forums for different aspects of planning.
Thanks again and I look forward to chatting with you all on here and IRL very soon!
Lindsay

Hello Not sure if I'll be able to offer anything more than moral support and encouragement from a distance, but you never know, there might be something I can add!

Hello everyone. We're Ella and Nicki, artists in Bristol, we came along to the first collaboration day. Our work is all about meeting people and community, and we're currently doing a long term project at the moment about a group of people who've applied to be the first people to live on Mars. We discussed some ideas for the survival village aspect - lots of possible links we can make. Look forward to hearing more about what's going to happen.

Hi Ella and Nicki!
It was lovely to meet you on Saturday and sorry we didn't get a bit more time to chat! The ideas and concepts for the Survival Village sound awesome - if you want to carry on your thoughts on here that would be ace :-) We will upload pics of the tabletop shortly so we can remind ourselves of what was said.
In the meantime, do you have any immediate thoughts on what you think you will need in the way of resources (people and/or "stuff")? Cheers L

Hi Linsey,
We went for a walk down Deptford High Street after we left on Saturday. The discussions in the collaboration day that we had were about how the high street shows allot about what makes up the community in that area. We spoke about how in the Survival Village and how it might be good to show parts of every day life and community that we shouldn't forget, this could be in the form of a collection of recordings that are held in a shop at the centre of the village. Our work is about meeting people and documenting our conversations, we thought that this might be a good place to start when looking at what to collect for this archive. Wyn had spoken about a design team that might be able to construct the shop as we work on the content.
It would be good to know everyone's thoughts on this.
Ella and Nicki.

Hi Cecilia and Catherine - thanks for joining up and saying hello!
Catherine I would love to pick your brains about a couple of our proposed events but I think I will start a new thread for each of them (Patient Zero and Survival Supermarket Sweep) so that we can keep this thread for introductions.
Ella and Nicki - I will start a new thread for the Survival Village too and C&P your post above into it
(for anyone new to online forums (or fora) you can start your own threads too - just click on the little icon in the top right hand side of the thread/posts on the main board that says "create thread" and bob's your aunties live in lover (which was a hilarious joke when I was at school. It hasn't dated well.....)
